Dear Student Leaders,
As spring break approaches, many students may have travel plans in place with their student organizations. No cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Pittsburgh region, but in light of the current outbreak, students who plan to travel to both domestic locations and abroad during spring break are encouraged to carefully consider their travel plans and adhere to all travel guidelines. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is monitoring this virus outbreak closely and all travel guidelines are posted online. At this time, students who have trips planned to international destinations, Hawaii, Alaska, or Puerto Rico should seriously reconsider their travel plans, due to the reliance on air travel for returning home from those destinations. If students choose to continue with their travel during spring break, they should monitor the CDC and the Department of State websites for travel restrictions that may be put into place during their trip. This is a fluid situation, with the potential for quick updates and restrictions to occur.
- If a student chooses to travel to a country where there is sustained community transmission, upon return to the United States, they are asked to practice social distancing for 14 days by avoiding all public gatherings, classes, worksites, and shared transportation (buses, planes, ride-share). Students should call Student Health at 412-383-1800 to report a recent return from these countries. You should also follow any guidance that may have been provided by public health authorities at the airport when you arrived in the US.

Preventative Measures
- Wash your hands frequently and properly
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
- Avoid sharing cups, utensils, water bottles, and other personal items
- Stay home when you are sick and avoid others who are sick
