What the Juul settlement may mean for Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE - BCHS' Kar-Hai Chu shares his thoughts impact of this settlement and what it means for Pittsburgh. His team's research, published in the journal Pediatrics last summer, found that a higher percentage of Pittsburgh-area high school students used e-cigarettes than national averages. In many neighborhoods, there were vape shops on every block, even within walking distance of middle and high schools. "The Juul settlement should be cheered for what it is  — the first step in the right direction, but it will not solve our youth’s dependence on nicotine overnight," he says.
