Tiffany Gary-Webb named Provost Faculty Fellow

Pitt’s Office of the Provost has announced that Tiffany Gary-Webb, professor of epidemiology, has been named Provost Faculty Fellow working with John Wallace, vice provost for diversity and development and the faculty diversity and development team.

Special assistant to the provost for race and the social determinants of equity, health and well-being since 2021, Gary-Webb will continue her work to create, implement and evaluate career and professional development programming for Pitt faculty.  She will also advance efforts of the Race and Health Collaboratory, lead the evaluation component of the Race &… Initiative – a shorthand name for Pitt’s Race and Social Determinants of Equity, Health and Well-being Initiative – and help develop programs to expand the University’s global reach.

Gary-Webb has spent more than 25 years working to understand the social and environmental determinants of chronic disease and implementing interventions to improve disease prevention and control. Her primary research interests include the social determinants of diabetes and obesity, interventions to improve diabetes outcomes for minority populations, and translation of research findings to practice and real-world evaluation.

She has held leadership positions in several national organizations, including the American Diabetes Association, the American Public Health Association, and the Council on Black Health.
