Rachael Rush receives Postdoctoral Leadership Award

The University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association (UPPDA) has honored Rachael Rush, PhD, with the Postdoctoral Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding service and leadership within the postdoctoral community.

Rush is a third-year Postdoctoral Scholar at the Center for Vaccine Research and the Department of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at Pitt’s School of Public Health. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis of high-containment arboviruses under the mentorship of Amy Hartman, PhD, associate professor of infectious diseases and microbiology.  In addition to her scientific contributions, she has played a pivotal role in supporting and representing postdoctoral scholars across campus.

During her term as UPPDA President (2023–2024), Rush represented Pitt postdocs at the National Postdoctoral Association meeting in Seattle and served as the postdoctoral representative on the University Senate Research Committee. She is also an NIH Loan Repayment Program awardee and ambassador, an active mentor, and a leader in both scientific and community outreach efforts.

The Postdoctoral Leadership Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate sustained, impactful contributions to the postdoctoral community. Rush's commitment to leadership, mentorship, and service exemplifies this mission.
