The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health has been ranked No. 6 among U.S. schools of public health for federal funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to the newest rankings from the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research (BRIMR).

The school climbed two spots compared to its 2023 ranking, with investigators receiving nearly $59.8 million in awards from the NIH in fiscal year 2024.

“Our research portfolio is transdisciplinary and addresses the entire science continuum-from bench to bedside to the population,” said Maureen Lichtveld, MD, MPH, dean of the School of Public Health. “Above all, I am especially proud of how our precision public health anchor assures that the science developed by our faculty, staff and students is in service to our communities locally and around the world.”

The BRIMR is an independent nonprofit organization that compiles and publishes annual rankings on NIH funding to research institutions, departments and investigators.
