The School of Public Health celebrates honors and achievements made by faculty members during the spring semester.
- Christine McClure, EdD, MBA, a senior research scientist in the Department of Health Policy and Management, was among four women honored as “Ladies Who Lead” by the Professional Women’s Network of Pittsburgh. McClure’s (GSPIA ’06G, EDUC ‘18G) research interests focus on understanding the intersectional experiences of women of color in higher education to inform the creations of more equitable spaces for minoritized groups.
- Jeremy Martinson, DPhil, assistant professor of infectious diseases and microbiology and of human genetics, is a 2023 recipient of the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. The award provides a $2,000 cash prize in recognition of teaching excellence and $3,000 to support teaching activities. Martinson was recognized for his leadership in the Master of Public Health with a concentration in Infectious Disease Pathogenesis, Eradication, and Laboratory Practice program, as well as contributions to the design of the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) degree program curriculum.
- Maria Mori Brooks, PhD, professor of epidemiology and of biostatistics, is a 2023 recipient of the Provost’s Award for Doctoral Mentoring, which provides a $2,500 cash prize in recognition of a faculty member’s commitment to mentoring and student support. Brooks teaches advanced epidemiological methods and is codirector of the Epidemiology Data Center.
- Ada Youk, PhD, associate dean for academic affairs and director of the BSPH degree program, is the 2023 Bernard D. Goldstein Undergraduate Public Health Teaching Award recipient. Established this year by Dean Emeritus Bernard D. Goldstein, MD, this award recognizes classroom teaching excellence in the BSPH program.
- Ryan Minster, PhD, assistant professor of human genetics, is the 2023 James L. Craig Excellence in Education Award recipient. The award recognizes faculty who have excelled in educating and mentoring students.
