Allegheny County Executive announces new Board of Health appointments

We are excited to announce that Pitt Public Health’s Dara D. Méndez, PhD, MPH, associate professor of epidemiology and associate director of the Center for Health Equity, has been included in a group of eight new members appointed to the Allegheny County Board of Health, with one existing member remaining on the Board.

In a statement released today, County Executive Innamorato noted, “We now have the exciting opportunity to welcome eight new members who bring a depth and breadth of public health expertise. As we tackle urgent challenges in air quality, maternal and infant mortality, racial disparities in public health, food insecurity and more, I know these nine members will lead with distinction and I thank them for agreeing to serve.”

“I am humbled and thrilled to take on this tremendous responsibility,” said Dr. Méndez.

Other Pitt Public Health-affiliated board appointments included Michael Yonas, DrPH, MPH, adjunct assistant professor of behavioral and community health sciences, and secondary faculty member, Graham Snyder, MD, MS, associate professor of medicine and medical director of infection prevention and hospital epidemiology.
