Evan S Cole

I am the Director of the Medicaid Research Center within the Health Policy Institute. Most of my career has focused on generating robust and objective evidence with and for policymakers to improve the access and quality of health care for low-income and disabled populations. I also study how other factors related to poverty affect the health of Medicaid enrollees, such as homelessness, housing, food insecurity, and other health related social needs. I have studied a broad set of health care delivery services, but tend to focus on treatment of substance use disorder, as well as primary care delivery. To do this, I work with interdisciplinary teams within the Department of Health Policy & Management, across the Schools of Health Sciences, and with researchers at other universities across the country. Our findings are disseminated directly to policymakers, in peer-reviewed journals, and at national conferences.
