Do you need help with a research project?

Dear esteemed colleagues,

We invite you to send faculty representatives of your department/division to our upcoming “Longitudinal Research Project (LRP) - Mentor Matching Mixer”, which is scheduled for Monday, September 23rd from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in the 11th floor Conference Center of Scaife Hall.  This is a great opportunity for students to meet with potential longitudinal research mentors.

If your faculty members are looking for medical students to help with research projects, our office can help with recruitment and appropriately matching ambitious medical students with faculty research interests.  Last year’s Mentor Matching Mixer event was enormously successful and featured 58 faculty representatives and 160 medical students seeking mentors.

Please encourage your faculty to sign up for this LRP Mentor Matching Mixer, through the link below, with their availability and a brief statement of their research interests/projects at the link below, or contact Suzann Beardsley (Suzann@medschool.pitt.edu) for additional information.

Since its inception 14 years ago, the LRP, formerly the Scholarly Research Project (SRP), has instructed medical students in the scientific method, improved critical thinking skills and fostered mentorship relationships.  Last year alone, our students presented their research findings at 346 national and local meetings, published 174 original manuscripts, and received 63 national or state awards for research!  In addition to receiving assistance with research projects and increasing visibility of your department, faculty mentors receive 25 ECUs per year, per student mentored.

We thank you for your assistance with this exciting opportunity, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with questions.
