John Lachin (BIOS ’72)


John Lachin (ScD ’72) is professor of biostatistics and epidemiology at the George Washington University (GWU) School of Public Health and Health Services in Washington, D.C. He served as director of the Biostatistics Center at GWU from 1988 to 2000, and led the development of the GWU Graduate Programs in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. Currently, he is principal investigator of the Coordinating Centers for the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications and The Glycemia Reduction Approaches in Diabetes: A Comparative Effectiveness Study, and is coinvestigator for the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study. Lachin is a fellow of the Society for Clinical Trials, American Statistical Association, and the Royal Statistical Society, and a member of the International Statistical Institute.
