To ensure the continuity of the Chicago Women in STEM and Academia Initiative, and represent postdoctoral women, Northwestern University welcomed IDM's COLLEEN ZACCARD (IDM '15) to the Northwestern University Postdoctoral Forum (NUPF) Executive Board as the Chair of the Chicago Women in STEM Initiative.
"In my new role on the NUPF Executive Board, my first objective is to harness the momentum gained from this event to build a local community that supports women in STEM. Attendees overwhelmingly indicated that the one thing they need personally to succeed as a woman in STEM and/or academia is mentorship. Hence, we are currently working to establish the 'Chicago Women in STEM Mentoring Network', starting with NU students, postdocs, faculty, and staff," said Zaccard.
