Maryland Receives Alumni Award for Practice

Patricia Maryland (HPM '82) was given the Award for Practice on May 29, 2015, at the annual Pitt Public Health Alumni Awards dinner.

The Alumni Award for Practice is presented to an alumnus/na who has made significant contribution to public health practice.

Maryland is president of health care operations and chief operating officer at Ascension Health in St. Louis, Missouri. She previously served as the president and chief executive officer of St. John Providence Health System in Warren, Michigan, and as the Michigan Ministry market leader for Ascension Health, where she provided strategic and operational leadership. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, patient care operations, service line management, finance, clinical program development, and evaluation. She has published on a variety of topics including gerontology, community health, and emergency medical services systems. The recipient of many professional leadership awards, Maryland works with several community associations and serves on numerous boards.
