Interdisciplinary Latino Research Network (ILRI)

The Center for Health Equity has initiated a mentoring and networking program for faculty and students who are Latino or are interested in working in Latino health. This program grew out of frequent student requests. The idea is that we can work together, exchanges ideas; something good will come from collaborating. The ILRI meets twice a semester to discuss and critique members draft proposals or manuscripts. We are open to all. Those who attend come from multiple schools at the University of Pittsburgh and from Duquesne and CMU. So far, the disciplines include public health, education, social work, anthropology, business, medicine and psychology. We also organize six “focused writing” sessions each semester to encourage us to write and share our successes and roadblocks. Light snacks offered. We all provide and receive social support and a gentle nudging. Interdisciplinary Latino Research Network (ILRI).
