My primary research focuses on the understanding of the epidemiology and etiology of juvenile onset diabetes, the evaluation of health risk effects from outdoor air pollution, the characterization of lifestyle risk factors and their effect on physical activity levels and health-related outcomes, and the epidemiology of physical activity. Secondary interests include the epidemiology of risk factors related to the development of ALS and autism. Some of these collaborations have led to the investigation and development of statistical methodology for studying air pollution health risks and for the assessment of health outcomes related to physical activity.
