Understanding factors that influence distribution of antibiotic resistance in human populations

Dr. Derek MacFadden trained in Infectious Diseases at the University of Toronto, and is currently completing his doctoral degree at the Harvard School of Public Health at the Centre for Communicable Disease Dynamics. He is a research fellow at HealthMap and Boston Children's Hospital. His research interests include antibiotic resistance in common bacterial pathogens with a focus on: 1) individual clinical prediction tools for antibiotic decision making; 2) modeling and evaluating stewardship interventions; and 3) population level patterns of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic use, including evaluating factors that influence the distribution of antibiotic resistance.
