Abstract:  Drawing on findings from behavioral science research, Dr. Blumenthal-Barby will call into question the ideal of the autonomous decision maker. She will then explain various “nudge” tools that may be employed to shape patients’ medical decisions and analyze the ethical considerations involved in employing such tools.
