Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop: What Kinds of Practice and Feedback Enhance Learning

Wednesday 4/10 12:00PM - 1:00PM
A521 Public Health

Looking for practical advice to improve your teaching? Interested in research-based theory on how students learn?

Join fellow Pitt Public Health instructors for the Evidence-Based Teaching Practices Workshop series! Throughout the semester, we will explore how to implement proven teaching strategies in the classroom. At each workshop in this seven-part series, we will facilitate a discussion of a chapter of How Learning Works: 7 Research-Based Principles for Smart Teaching (available to read for free online).

At our fifth session, we will discuss kinds of practice and feedback that enhance learning (Chapter 5).

All interested faculty, staff, postdocs, teaching assistants, and students are welcome to participate, and each workshop can be taken independently of one another. Reading ahead of time is encouraged, but not required for participation.

For more information or to be added to the CourseWeb group for the workshop, contact John Shaffer.

SAVE THE DATE - Session 6 will be April 24, 12-1 p.m. in A521 Public Health. The topic of discussion will be why student development and course climate matters for student learning. Find other session dates and additional professional development opportunities at publichealth.pitt.edu/professionaldevelopmentworkshops.
