BCHS's Andre Brown recently assumed the role as executive director for Pittsburgh Black Pride (PBP). Since 1995, the Pittsburgh Black Pride Association has provided entertainment, social information, and health education to Black LBGTQIA+ individuals and families in the city of Pittsburgh and across Southwest Pennsylvania.

Brown's goals include strengthening organizational infrastructure, building community partnerships, facilitating greater inclusivity through programming and leadership, and providing consistent social and health programming to foster a greater sense of community and overall well-being among Black LGBTQIA+ Pittsburghers.

The annual Pittsburgh Black Pride Week seeks to drive the organizational vision of a Pittsburgh where all members of the Black LGBTQIA+ community feel welcome, safe, and accepted for who they are. As one of the olders Black Pride celebrations in the U.S., PBP has continually provided a platform where community members can forge new social networks and gain awareness of the important local, regional, and national issues that impact all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those specific to the Black community.
