Wesley M. Rohrer earned his BA in political science at Wayne State University. From the University of Pittsburgh he received his MBA from the Graduate School of Business, and doctorate in educational policy and administration (higher education) from the School of Education. He has held positions as coordinator of the executive MBA program for Pitt Business; acting department chair within occupational therapy and associate dean for administration for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; and currently vice chair for education, director of the MHA program, and co-director of the MHA/MBA program at Pitt Public Health.

Wes’ passion for more than 35 years has been for teaching, student advising, and career mentoring, during which time has taught and mentored over one thousand students in health care management and policy at the graduate level. He has developed curriculum and taught most functional management courses included in the current MHA curriculum, including financial management, organization studies, marketing, human resource management, leadership and ethics, strategic management, and health Information systems. Following a sabbatical in which Wes served as associate dean for administration at the College of Public Health and Informatics, King bin Abdulaziz University for the Health Sciences in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Wes has refocused his scholarly and teaching endeavors in comparative global health systems and policy. He is engaged in a systematic review of road traffic accidents and policy implications in the Eastern Mediterranean/Gulf Region.

Wes is happily married to Janet, a retired family resources counselor, and they are the proud parents of three married daughters and enjoy four grandchildren. Wes has participated actively in local government, community service, and faith-community outreach for the past four decades, and he currently serves as board chair of Off The Floor Pittsburgh, a faith-based furniture warehouse providing new and renovated furniture to families and individuals in housing crisis and transition. Currently, he serves on Faculty Assembly, Senate Council and the Senate’s Budget and Policies Committee. Formerly an age-competitive mid-distance runner, Wes continues to run for fun and fitness and in his spare time has almost completed a Master’s in Religious Studies as an avocational interest.
