A proposal to establish a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Systems Engineering, submitted by the Graduate School of Public Health and the Swanson School of Engineering, has been approved by the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor, University of Pittsburgh.
The program is design to provide students a multidisciplinary curriculum necessary to better influence the costs, risks, utilization, distribution, and outcomes of health care services.
Initially, students enrolled in the Master of Health Administration or the Master of Science in Industrial Engineering programs will be eligible to apply to the certificate program. Once the program establishes itself, appropriately qualified degree-seeking students within the Graduate School of Public Health or from the Swanson School of Engineering will be considered for admission to the certificate program. The certificate will be awarded either from the Graduate School of Public Health or from the Swanson School of Engineering, depending on the location of the student’s primary enrollment.
