My research examines access to health care and insurance. I study consumer, employer, and insurer behavior in health insurance markets and their implications for health insurance availability, costs, and coverage. This work has focused primarily on the Health Insurance Marketplaces created by the Affordable Care Act, as well as employer-sponsored insurance and Medicaid. I also am interested in geographic access to health care. A new line of my research examines how geographic and provider network constraints limit patients’ access to care and choice of providers. My research has been published in The Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, The American Journal of Health Economics, and other leading health economics and health policy journals.
