Latest Construction Announcements

Crane closings to DeSoto Street entrance - April/May/June

A large crane will be placed in front of the DeSoto Street/Main Parran Lobby entrance during specific dates in late April, May, and June. closing that entrance for the day. The Fifth Avenue entrance near the G23 Auditorium as well as the garage and loading dock entrances will be available. Upcoming crane hoisting dates include: 4-26-17, 5-3-17, 5-31-17, 6-7-17, and 6-20-17. 

Limited access to room A115

During first-floor construction in March and April, access to room A115 will be via the Crabtree elevator or the stairwell from the parking garage (see "First floor Parran Hall construction"). Note there will be no handicapped emergency egress from A115 (i.e. during an emergency in which the elevator is shut down), so avoid scheduling events here during this time. For questions or scheduling, contact Joanne Pegher in Student Affairs.  

General construction update

The North Parran renovation project is on schedule, and should be completed in November 2017. Framing of office walls is well underway on the upper floors, and demolition is almost complete on the lower floors. Student work and collaboration spaces in North Parran are in the design phase.  Due to change in the construction scheduling, the coffee shop will not open until sometime this summer.   

Access Hours to Parran and Crabtree Halls

Due to construction, access hours to the building are in flux. Current hours are as follows, but check here for future updates:  5th Avenue Entrance : 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.;  DeSoto Street Entrance : 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.;  Loading Dock : 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Crabtree Parking Garage (1st floor): 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.;  Crabtree Parking Garage (3rd floor): 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. 

Reservations and events in the Pitt Public Health commons

The new Pitt Public Health commons can be reserved through  Karen M. Perkins  in the Dean's Office.  Please note that this space cannot be completely closed  to traffic. Groups holding events will need to be mindful of the needs of other users of the space, especially if the event is  not open to all (e.g. for department-specific events).
